Classics Declassified
Spend a few Sundays this year with ASO's hit Classics Declassified series at the Peter Norton Symphony Space – one of Manhattan’s most contemporary concert venues. As always, Leon Botstein and members of the American Symphony Orchestra will set out to explore masterworks in this series of informal, three-part Sunday matinee concerts:
- Leon Botstein and the Orchestra discuss the composer and the work, illustrating in music how each masterpiece came to be written.
- After a brief intermission, the work is performed in its entirety. You’ll experience the music with fresh insight and understanding.
- Following the performance, share your questions and comments with Maestro Botstein and the Orchestra in a special post-concert discussion.
The 2008-2009 program will include Strauss's Four Last Songs, Revueltas's La noche de los mayas and Brahms's Symphony No. 3. ASO subscribers are treated to a bonus concert of Richard Wilson's The Cello Has Many Secrets.
