The ASO offers its annual opera matinee with this concert performance of Richard Strauss’s one-act Feuersnot (In Need of Fire). Strauss saw a vision of himself in the work, revealing perhaps more than he intended. In Need of Fire tells the tale of a sorcerer who deprives a town of its ability to light fire (Strauss taking revenge on his critics) until they let him take the virginity of the mayor’s daughter.Read the Playbill for this concert.
