Description
The ASO continues its celebration of Louis Armstrong with a first-time performance in partnership with Bronx Music Hall the day before the legendary trumpeter’s 125th birthday. Curated by longtime orchestra member Louis Bruno, the ASO Jazz Ensemble will perform a program of his lesser-recorded works including Cool Cart Blues, Don’t Forget to Mess Around, Hear Me Talkin’ to Ya, If We Never Meet Again, and New Orleans Stomp. Featuring Alphonso Horne (trumpet), Zoe Obadia (saxophone and clarinet), Ron Wilkins (trombone and vocals), Steve Benson (guitar), Louis Bruno (bass), and Kory Grossman (drums).
This project is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts. To find out more about how National Endowment for the Arts grants impact individuals and communities, visit www.arts.gov.
The ASO’s Chamber Series is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
