Maureen McKay, Soprano
Soprano Maureen McKay is praised for her silvery soprano and dynamic character portrayals. During the 2026–27 season, she returns to the Metropolitan Opera, covering Despina (Così fan tutte). The previous season at the Metropolitan Opera saw her singing Papagena (The Magic Flute) on the mainstage. Elsewhere, she debuted Callie Van Lew (Heggie/Scheer’s Intelligence) at Virginia Opera, and Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) with Central City Opera. Among her other career highlights are Gretel with the Metropolitan Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, Utah Opera, Komische Oper Berlin, Opera Philadelphia, Portland Opera, Tulsa Opera; Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) with Komische Oper Berlin, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Washington National Opera, Edinburgh International Festival, Portland Opera, Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Opera Colorado; Suor Genovieffa (Suor Angelica) and the Shepherd (Tannhäuser) with the Metropolitan Opera; Pamina (The Magic Flute) at Lincoln Center, Anne Trulove (The Rake’s Progress) with Portland Opera; Susanna with Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Komische Oper Berlin, Virginia Opera, Opera Cleveland; Mabel (The Pirates of Penzance) with Opera Colorado and The Atlanta Opera; and Papagena (Die Zauberflöte) with Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl. She has appeared in concert with the Dallas Symphony, The Cleveland Orchestra, Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Utah Symphony, National Symphony Orchestra, Seattle Symphony, and Oregon Symphony. The soprano frequently covers leading roles, such as Susanna, Pamina, and Adina (L’elisir d’amore) at the Metropolitan Opera and joined Judith Clurman for The Sound of Music honoring its 50th anniversary at the Mozarteum (Salzburg) for a program of Rodgers and Hammerstein.
