William Guanbo Su makes a welcome return to the American Symphony Orchestra with this performance. Also in the 2026–27 season, he returns to the Metropolitan Opera for Colline in La bohème and Angelotti in Tosca, Seattle Opera for Nilakantha in Lakmé, Dallas Opera as Timur in Turandot, Santa Fe Opera for Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia and Executioner and Male Consort in Dean’s Of One Blood, and St. John the Divine for Mozart’s Requiem.

Recent performances include Publio in La clemenza di Tito (Staatsoper Hamburg); Masetto in Don Giovanni and Speaker in The Magic Flute (Metropolitan Opera); Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia (Seattle Opera, Austin Opera); Oroveso in Norma (Irish National Opera); Somnus and Cadmus in Semele (Atlanta Opera); Masetto in Don Giovanni and Garibaldo in Rodelinda (Santa Fe Opera); Blitch in Susannah (Opera Theatre of Saint Louis); Colline in La bohème (LA Opera, Dallas Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, Utah Opera); Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor (Nashville Opera); Alidoro in La Cenerentola (Opera Maine); and Bonze in Madama Butterfly (Houston Grand Opera, Grand Teton Music Festival).

Concert performances include title role of Handel’s Hercules (English Concert), Demon in Pergolesi’s Li prodigi della divina grazia nella conversione e morte di San Guglielmo Duca di Aquitaina (Les Talens Lyriques at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence), Simon in Handel’s Judas Maccabeus (American Symphony Orchestra), and Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and Handel’s Messiah (Cecilia Chorus of New York).

He is a 2019 national Grand Finals winner of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition and a former member of the Butler Studio of the Houston Grand Opera.
